This work has for objective to present the fundamental characteristics of the CAPES Periodicals Portal and the consultation modalities to the journals associated to that project. It is outstanding the importance of the virtual libraries and the spread of the knowledge for the internet, besides they be related other similar portals to the CAPES Periodicals Portal. They are outstanding the possible research modalities of they be accomplished in the Portal and the expectation of results for the same ones. Starting from the good results obtained in the consultations to the related journals in the Portal, it can be ended that the CAPES Periodicals Portal is an excellent portal of searches for the same ones.
