Resumo

Currently there are many improvement methods in manufacturing processes aimed at increased competitiveness and productivity, as global competition is strengthened at every moment and the search for continuous improvement a way of differentiation. The aviation industry is a strategic sector because the produce technologically evolved products, and value-added, contributes to the scientific and technological development of the country, its economy and the well being of citizens. Besides, it also develops and manufactures vehicles and systems with military application, so it also contributes to the sovereignty and national independence. Being an industry that develops parts requiring high responsibility, there is the need for constant search for quality improvement, both involving processes and the materials used. The stamping-forming process in the aerospace industry seeks to combine high strength with small thicknesses of metal sheet, thus guaranteeing high productivity, low cost per piece, good tolerance and finish and low weight of the final product. There is also great concern on the part of engineering in material selection for this process, which notes a growing substitution of aluminum alloys for polymeric composite materials, since they are lighter and have greater resistance to fatigue and corrosion. Analysis of the literature reveals a certain lack of studies on the use of stamping-forming process in the aviation industry, given that the proposed work is to analyze, through review, improving the performance of aircraft parts, focusing on processes and selection materials. The study-review found that this is an industry in constant change and improvement, studies to increasingly frequent application of composite materials.
