INTEGRATION BETWEEN TECHNICAL AND ACADEMIC EDUCATION: a comparative analysis of dual systems and the brazilian model of university admission

Abstract

This article provides a comparative analysis of the educational systems of countries that adopt the dual secondary education model, examining how the integration between technical and academic training influences educational, social, and economic outcomes. This qualitative and documentary research was based on reports and studies from international organizations such as the OECD, the European Parliament, and Itaú Educação e Trabalho, as well as theoretical contributions from authors such as Feynman, Perrenoud, and Luckesi. Comparative tables were developed to present the structure of dual systems and the mechanisms of access to higher education. The results indicate that countries with integrated models, such as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Finland, achieve better performance and greater educational equity due to structural efficiency and rational management of public resources, rather than higher investment levels. It is concluded that Brazil must reform its secondary and higher education access models, promoting policies that value Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) as a legitimate path for human and social development.
